Therapy that works.
Congratulations on taking the steps to move towards a better tomorrow. With over 24 years of counseling experience in agency, education and private practice settings, I am skilled at helping adolescents and adults pivot away from destructive thoughts and behaviors. I teach clients how the brain works when left unchecked. We work together on identifying the strengths you already possess and we build from there. I provide therapy to people struggling with toxic stress, anger management, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, self-confidence, self esteem and trauma (including but not limited to: car accidents, sexual abuse/assault, emotional/physical abuse, racism, sexism, homophobia etc.).
I hold a BA in Psychology from Earlham College and an MA in Counseling from Adler University. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and am passionate about helping people shift away from their inner critic and learn how to hold true to self-compassion. As a lifelong learner, I am committed and passionate about using the most effective evidence-based therapies. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) , Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Trauma Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion Focussed Therapy. I meet people where they are at in a caring atmosphere and with non-judgement. We may create lifestyle shifts, develop new habits that directly affect your mood and functioning, transform unhealthy thinking patters or process issues from your past that keep holding you back. Did you know that there is a large body of research that shows strength training and high-intensity interval training decrease depression symptoms as much if not more than taking antidepressants? Giving you options rooted in research is part of my passion in this field. Clients often tell me they want to be challenged in therapy and that is always a good sign that change is right around the corner. I will offer you effective strategies to address your concerns coupled with honesty, respect, and compassion. I encourage clients to give me feedback about how therapy is going so we can make any shifts to enhance our work together. |
